MANAMA: The Pakistan Club will host the first Cricket Academy as part of the Club’s efforts to revive the cricket game by providing training and technical support to the local talent of this game.
Mr. Mohamed Sajid Sheikh recently elected Vice President of the CBA Board made this announcement in the presence of Mr Salim Elyas, CBA President and Mahmood Rafique the Chairman Pakistan Club and hundreds of cricket fans at the opening of the Ramadhan Tennis Ball 7-A Side Cup 2017 at the Pakistan Club.
“The efforts to preserve the cricket as a game at the grassroot level, the CBA is planning to open the first cricket academy at the Pakistan Club. This will help to polish the talent and sustain the cricket as a sporting game which had been one of the key areas of sports of the Pakistan Club till early 2000,” Mr. Sajid said, adding that the Pakistan Club’s efforts of reviving the cricket is commendable and CBA would provide all possible support and assistance in this regard.
Mr Salim Elyas, the President of CBA thanked the Pakistan Club’s efforts to host the Cricket Cup in Ramadhan and said CBA would extend all possible support and technical assistance in taking the cricket sports to the next level.
Mr. Mahmood Rafique Chaudhary, Chairman of the Pakistan in a statement applauded the CBA’s announcement as a major milestone in the Club’s cricket history. “The Club has already put together a strong team and now the focus will be training and sustaining the cricket as one of the key areas of sports at the Club,” he said.
This year’s Ramadhan Cup has attracted over 51 teams from seven different nationalities which speaks volumes of interest in the Pakistan Club’s efforts in hosting the yearly event. Thousands of spectators watch the matches over the three and half weeks during the Ramadhan Cup.
