MANAMA: The Kingdom of Bahrain has been known as vanguard of multi-cultural society over the years with a complete freedom of worship to people belonging to various faiths, classes and creeds, says Brigadier Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Assistant Chief of Public Security for Operations and Training Affairs.
Shaikh Hamad, who was one the speakers at the 2nd DERASAT FORUM held on Sunday at Sofitel Hotel, on the sidelines of the Forum told the Bahrain News Agency that Bahrain would not allow or tolerate any extremist views to be imposed or dictated by anyone.
“Bahrain is a peaceful country and everybody lives here with complete freedom. They practice their religion and worship according to their faith without any fear,” Shaikh Hamad added, who also spoke during a session of the Forum titled “A Think Tank Role in Combating Terrorism and Extremism.”
“We recently celebrated 200th anniversary of Hindu temple and we as a nation are proud of it and we will not allow anyone to touch this mixture and cosmopolitan atmosphere of Bahrain,” he said.
“Everyone is welcome in Bahrain and we assure the freedom of religion. As for radicalization it’s a global issue; it has no religion or nationality. We are ready to counter any threat and fight back by unity, education and preventing our youth from going into wrong directions. As for us the Ministry of Interior with all our partners to prevent our youth from falling prey to extreme ideas. It is a joint effort and cooperation of each one in our society to play their role.”
“Bahrain is safe and is developing. It is one of a leading country in the region where peace, prosperity and happiness prevails. So, we strive to keep up this atmosphere of Bahrain 24/7 and maintain it.
“We are living in a world that has become global village now and the threats are globalised, recently we have seen the incidents in New Zealand mosque shootings and bomb blasts in Sri Lanka followed by Belgium, Holland and France. I assure you that Kingdom of Bahrain is one of the safest countries in the world. We set a good example if compared with the West and other European countries’ stability and security of Bahrain and its citizen.”
