Zain Bahrain continues to upskill Bahraini youth

June 22, 2021
0

Manama: Zain Bahrain, a leading telecommunications operator in the Kingdom, announced the enrolment of a significant number of Bahraini students in three of its Zain Youth Empowerment (ZY) Programs, titled, ‘Future Pioneers’, ‘Generation Z’ and ‘The Professional Development Program.’  The ZY program has been designed to provide work exposure and empower Bahraini youth with the latest skills inspired by World Economics Forums 2025 in order to create a competitive future workforce which contributes directly to Bahrain’s Vision 2030. The training program is in line with the company’s development strategy and is a key pillar in contributing to society with the goal of embedding a socially responsible culture throughout Zain operations in general.

As part of the Zain Youth (ZY) program, a number of ZY members will be trained and rotated to different departments in Zain; out of which, some students will be assigned to the Finance department, Business Planning and Analytics while others will be assigned to the Retail Sales Department, Call Centre and Outdoor Sales. Members have also started attending the Executive Committee Meetings as part of their development training and exposure to the corporate work environment. ZY members spent more than 752 training hours as part of their development plan.

The members in the Professional Development Program also went through a rigorous training totalling 2262 work hours learning extensively about Zain Products & Services, skills inspired by the World Economics Forums 2025 and other employability skills. This program has been designed for Bahraini youth who hold a high school certificate or diploma and are seeking to advance their professional experience or to be an entrepreneur. Further, members of the Zain Digital Natives Advancement (Z-DNA) Program were provided with capstone projects. Z-DNA is part of the Zain Youth Empowerment and is a learning program series designed specifically for Generation Z trainees to enhance their digital & interpersonal skills. Members of the Generation Z program, who are graduates, developed their projects and presented it to Zain management. Moreover, a virtual session with Gulf University (GU) was conducted for GU students on ‘How Zain Bahrain managed to increase employee engagement during the pandemic.’ Students of the various programs were not only provided with technical knowledge but also experienced operational challenges and ways in which to resolve issues in an unprecedented situation, such as the current pandemic. Over the past 11 years, more than 2000 youth have benefited from this program.

“We will continue our commitment towards youth empowerment through our various programs and prepare Bahraini youth to take on roles with greater confidence. Our programs are designed in such a way that will not only bridge the gap between education and future market needs but also advance youth career paths and simultaneously contribute to the Kingdom’s future growth. We are proud to have contributed to the development of the country’s communications ecosystem and want our youth to be a part of our journey and improve their skills by gaining knowledge from our many talented team members. We will continue to lead the path for our youth through our programs that provide opportunities for empowerment, growth, and development,” Mohamed Essa, Employee Relations and Youth Development Program Manager at Zain Bahrain, said.
