Manama: Bahrain and Cyprus have stressed the importance of developing bilateral relations related to environmental cooperation and combatting climate change.
“We confirmed the importance of the exchange of visits between the two friendly countries, and their central role in supporting bilateral cooperation in various fields, particularly environment related cooperation,” Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and Chief Executive of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Daina told a media briefing following talks with Cypriot’s Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Costas Kadis.
“I briefed His Excellency on the efforts we are exerting in the Kingdom of Bahrain to protect the environment, work on the sustainability of its components, and preserve and develop its resources. I also touched on the various environmental commitments undertaken by the Kingdom of Bahrain as part of its continuous endeavor to promote sustainable development and address climate change.”
The meeting stressed the importance of strengthening international efforts to combat climate change and the need to reinforce them in light of the increasing danger of this phenomenon at the global level.
“We reviewed the most prominent efforts in the two friendly countries to preserve the environment, discussed different experiences, and stressed the importance of exchanging experiences within the framework of the strong bilateral relations that bring the two countries together,” bin Daina said.
Kadis stressed the need for continued coordination and consultation on environmental matters and the exchange of experiences within the framework of the strong relations that bring together the two friendly countries.
The two officials agreed to continue coordination and consultation on environmental matters, and said they looked forward to developing bilateral relations in this regard.
