Bahrain’s Foreign Minister denounces Houthi attacks against the UAE, Saudi Arabia

Manama: Mahmood Rafique, Editor: The Kingdom of Bahrain has condemned the Houthi militia attacks against civilian targets in the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullatif Al Zayani, was responding to a question during a joint Press conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, at the Fouyr Seasons Hotel on Monday, demanded an immediate ceasefire and end the hostilities against the peaceful countries.

The Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemned and denounced the launch of a ballistic missile by the terrorist Houthi militia against the United Arab Emirates. It also commends the vigilance and efficiency of the UAE Air Defense that were able to intercept and destroy the ballistic missile. The Minister stressed that such terrorist acts affirm the keenness of the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian facilities.

The Minister reaffirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain supports the UAE in all the measures it takes to protect its security and stability, stressing the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards deterring these terrorist militias and putting an end to their continuous violations of international laws that threaten the security and stability of the region.

Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who was on an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed his Turkish counterpart, praising the friendly relations between the two countries, which are based on mutual respect and cooperation. He expressed the Kingdom’s aspiration to enhance cooperation with the friendly Republic of Turkey in various fields.

Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation with regards to political and security challenges facing the Middle East, and the need to establish security, stability, and peace in the region, as well as achieving the aspirations of its peoples for development and prosperity. He further wished the Republic of Turkey and its friendly people further progress and development.

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressing his pleasure to have visited the Kingdom of Bahrain. He hailed the friendly relations between the two countries, stressing the keenness of Turkey to enhance relations and cooperation. He also wished the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity.

The two sides discussed friendship and cooperation between them and ways to enhance and develop cooperation in the political, economic, commercial, cultural and tourism fields. They also discussed political developments and challenges in the region, as well as regional wars and conflicts that threaten the region’s stability and security.

The two sides stressed the importance of activating cooperation and enhancing cooperation in all vital fields.

The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Acting Undersecretary of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Consular and  Administrative Affairs, Ambassador Khalil Yaqoob AlKhayat, the Director General of Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies, Ambassador Dr. Shaikha Muneera Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Director General of Ministry Affairs, Ambassador Talal Abdulsalam Al-Ansari, the Chief of Human Rights Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Arwa Hasan Alsayed Ali Ebrahim, the Chief of Afro-Asian Affairs, Ambassador Fatima Abdulla Al Dhaen, and other senior officials at the Ministry. The Turkish side included the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bahrain, Esin Çakıl.
