However, the reports added, there are no official reports on causalities yet except the police confirming that it was a bomb attack which caused scare among the residents in the capital of Norway.
According to the official reports the Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and he was not in the office at the time of huge blast which blew up the window glasses of the PM’s office.
There was no immediate word on the cause of the blast. Norwegian news agency NTB says police have confirmed that a bomb caused the explosion that killed at least one person and injured many others at the government headquarters in Oslo.
The blast, believed to be a car bomb or a terrorist attack, hit the offices of Norwegian Prime Minister causing extensive damage to the adjoin buildings as well.
The police had cordoned off the affected areas and injured were shifted to the hospital by ambulances and helicopters.
Most of the windows in the 20-floor high-rise were blown out, and the bottom floor appeared to be gutted. Nearby offices were also heavily damaged and evacuated, including those housing some of Norway’s leading newspapers and news agency NTB.
No one has claimed the responsibility yet and the TV footage from the scene showed rubble and glass from shattered windows in the streets and smoke was rising from some buildings. The wreckage of at least one car was on one street.
