The 275 square meters BFH Fine Art Space opens its doors to the public for the opening of ‘Out of Place’, an exhibition showcasing the work of 17 local contemporary artists.
Located at the West Artium of the Harbor Towers, the Fine Art Gallery provides a unique platform for exhibiting national and international modern and contemporary art. The Gallery aims to encourage local artists, to promote corporate art sponsorship and the development of corporate art collections and to give new collectors the opportunity to purchase original and affordable art.
“It is our pleasure to support upcoming artists working in Bahrain. We understand the necessity in supporting new talent and we recognize the manner in which this will benefit the art scene in Bahrain as well as the artists themselves. We aim to show progressive, contemporary work in order to elevate Bahrain onto the international art scene,” Dr. Omar Al Mardi, Managing Director of BFH, said.
In this exhibition, 17 artists have one common purpose, to explore the meaning of the statement ‘out of place’. The outcome is a diverse and introspective examination of issues related to identity, culture, society and spatial ambiguity. Visitors will have the chance to experience an impressive variety of work- from paintings and installations to experimental sound art.
“We only hope that such thought-provoking and inspiring exhibitions will continue into the future and we expect to hold regular exhibitions from January 2012,” Dr. Al Mardi, added.
The Gallery is elegantly designed and uniquely positioned whereby the transparent glass windows provide panoramic views of the old city of Manama on one side, as well as magnificent sea views on the other; exemplifying Bahrain’s position as a nation that embraces their cultural history and simultaneously welcomes the progress of the future.
The exhibition will open on December 8th at 7pm, for all to attend. The exhibition will remain open until January 8th 2012. It will be open to the public Sunday- Thursday, 10am-7pm and Friday and Saturday, 12pm-6pm.
