“The international data roaming service is increasingly used by consumers with little or no information about the charges to be paid for the service. The amendments to the regulation we are proposing aim to improve the transparency of the charges paid while roaming for data as well as voice and short messages services,” Ghada Ebrahim Al-Qassab, TRA’s Director of Consumer Affairs and Media, said.
“The proposed amendments to the regulation will empower consumers to make informed choices when it comes to using data roaming. We strongly encourage consumers and Consumers’ Groups to review the proposed amendments to the regulation and provide their comments to be included in the final regulation. Consumers’ views are of high importance to help us protect their interests,” AlQassab, added.
TRA proposes to add new provisions to the regulation to inform consumers of the maximum tariff for sending and receiving data while roaming. The consultation document can be found on TRA’s website at www.tra.org.bh. Interested parties should provide their comments by no later than 28 December 2011.
