Minister of Industry and Commerce Dr. Hassan Abdullah Fakhro, during the parliamentary session, and in the context of consumer protection against rising commodity prices, said that Bahrain consumer market is one of the most stable in the region.
Dr. Fakhro revealed that studies carried out by the Ministry on the local market through regular weekly inspection tours by the Minister and other Ministry officials, confirm that the rise in commodity prices are justifiable and depend on the product’s “country of origin” and global economic transformations, and added that the Ministry ensures local market prices compatibility with other markets.
Moreover, the prices of many products in Bahrain such as rice, milk, oils and tea are cheaper when compared with their prices in other countries, adding that prices of vegetables and fruits have recently witnessed a significant decline.
Dr. Fakhro urged all merchants to cooperate with Ministry in order to maintain the stability of the market prices.
