The Turkish minister hailed Lt. General Shaikh Rashid’s visit to Turkey and its significance in bolstering bilateral cooperation, describing it as an added value to strong relations between both countries.
He also lauded the royal initiative to set up Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI), which has earned international respect, valuing the steps taken by the committee in charge of implementing BICI recommendations to enforce the visions.
The Turkish minister voiced his country’s denunciation of the recent terrorist acts in Bahrain and the parties behind them, lauding the recent constitutional amendments aimed at serving the interests of Bahraini citizens per excellence.
He said the stances taken by some political societies in Bahrain were not right as the opposition should act with a patriotic spirit.
“We are strongly convinced of the need to hold a national dialogue where all parties take part to surmount the incidents.”
He also reiterated his country’s respect to Bahrain for its remarkable role in boosting regional security thanks to its outstanding international relations, underlining the need to maintain cooperation between the police bodies of both countries for the interest of the Turkish and Bahraini people.
Lt. General Shaikh Rashid expressed thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality, stressing the need to bolster bilateral security cooperation and exchange expertise.
Both sides agreed to appoint liaison officers in both countries to follow up on the cooperation and coordination process.
They also agreed to set up a permanent panel of specialists in charge of developing bilateral cooperation in various security fields, including mainly training.
The move is within the framework of a security agreement signed by both countries on March 6, 2006.
The Interior Minister invited his Turkish counterpart to visit Bahrain on a date that will be fixed later.
