“The United States is a closest ally of Bahrain and we have friends in civil society and political groups but we will not be part of any dialogue,” the Assistant US Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labour Michael H. Posner told media in Manama.
However, Posner added, the US will assist any party in case it is required but as a principle this Bahrain’s domestic affair.
Michael Posner also held talks with the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa. According to a statement posted by the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) said that the Minister received US Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labour in presence of US Ambassador Thomas Krajeski.
Both sides reviewed bilateral ties and discussed possible co-operation in all vital areas of interest.
