The functions, which concluded with an honouring ceremony as are part of the second edition of the Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al-Khalifa Award for Voluntary Work.
The celebration witnessed an outstanding presence of voluntary associations’ delegations from 16 Arab countries and was attended by Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the ceremony’s patron and Honorary President of the Good Word Society, who honoured winners from 15 Arab states.
The laureates clinched the annual award after meeting well-defined criteria set by the Good Word Society and the Arab Federation for Voluntary Work.
The celebration featured various programmes including an operetta and poetry recitation.
Shaikh Isa thanked Bahrain’s leadership for their unlimited support to the civil society and voluntary work, pointing out that the second edition of the award aims to open new horizons in voluntary work and boost the role of the Arab youth in serving their communities.
He described voluntary work as a national demand, a human necessity and a main pillar in fostering solidarity and social cohesion.
President of the Good Word Society Hassan Bu Haza’a hailed Bahrain’s prosperous era of reform and the public and private sectors’ contributions to it, describing the Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al-Khalifa Award for Voluntary Work as the main Arab function held as part of the celebrations of the Arab Voluntary Work Day.
General of the Arab Federation for Voluntary Work Yussef bin Ali Al Qadhim praised the award which, he said, is part of a comprehensive programme carried out by the Good Word Society in cooperation with the Arab Federation for Voluntary Work that is based on a marvelous philosophy of uniting all social components and directing their efforts to the service of human beings rather than focusing on conflicts and incitement of hatred.
