Dutch Internet expert Sander Steffann, currently on a visit to the Kingdom, said that Internet operators can take advantage of European successful experience, especially that of the Netherlands, in applying IPv6 and provide it for users of Internet at home.
He also said that he has visited many countries, including Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Dubai, Syria and the Palestinian territories, to hold workshops on IPv6 adding Internet operators in Bahrain are the most informed about the latest developments in the Internet world.
He also asserted that transition from the current IPv4 to IPv6 requires at least ten years as the process needs changing the devices used in homes, as well as administrative and operating systems.
It is to be noted that the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is currently hosting MENOG’s Sander Steffann to hold a three-day workshop on IPv6, with the participation of 30 Internet services providers and telecommunication operators.
