HM stressed the importance in the protection of public money, monitoring and conservation of spending. HM also underlined the contribution and recommendations of the NAO which helps and reflecting positively on the performance and efficiency of governmental bodies.
“This establishment has always maintained its independence in its scrutiny of government factions, and works by pressuring the Government to hold Ministries accountable for their actions,” Hassan AlJalahma, Auditor-General of NAO, said.
HRH Premier, who met at Riffa Palace with National Audit Court President Hassan bin Khalifa Al Jalahma who submitted to him the court’s annual report 2011-2012, said the government has always been keen to take into consideration the court’s remarks and recommendations as well as boost self-auditing in governmental establishments so as to protect public money, ensure its good management and promote the principles of transparency and probity.
HRH hailed the court’s efforts and remarkable contribution to protecting public money and improving financial performance, stressing the government’s commitment to carrying out the remarks and recommendations included in its report.
The court’s President commended HRH the Premier’s unflinching support to the National Audit Court and valuable directives to all relevant ministries and government bodies to fully cooperate with it.
“We continue to meticulously monitor all government expenditures through unannounced visits to ensure public money remains a priority,” he added.
