November 17, 2012
0

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa
In line with its efforts to continue implementing the visions of the National Consensus Dialogue, the government, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, has taken innumerable procedures to implement 217 executive visions out the already completed 290 ones, covering the issues on which the Bahraini citizens reached consensus, including consolidating national achievements, upgrading economic performance, activating and enhancing the efficiency of auditory tools, promoting women’s role and facilitating their access to decision-making positions and providing the necessary requirements for fostering the youth momentum in the Kingdom.

Visions with an executive nature covered the four themes of the National Consensus Dialogue, namely the political, economic, social and legal ones, and the Committee in Charge of Following up on the Implementation of the visions referred all visions, from this category to the concerned ministries and state departments so as to ensure that they are incorporated into the government work plan.

In regard, the government has put in place an electronic system to follow up the progress made and coordinated with the Finance Ministry in order to provide the needed funds and give them priority in the state budget.

The steps taken by the government to implement the executive visions have helped develop the political, economic, social and legal framework in the kingdom thanks to the government’s speedy response with those visions, out of its keenness to upgrade the homeland and its citizens, a goal shared by the government and all loyal sides.

The implementation process of 217 executive visions has shown that many of them are already there, which reflects the solidity of the kingdom’s constitutional and legislative framework.

It also denotes the Government of Bahrain’s openness and constant interest to meet the needs of its citizens through various means and channels, including the National Consensus Dialogue.

In what follows, we are going to highlight the main procedures taken for the sake of bringing about a quantum leap in all fields in the kingdom.

Regarding the political theme, the government confirmed its intention to establish a committee to re-consider the distribution of electoral constituencies ahead of the next elections and preserved and consolidated the bicameral parliamentary system (vision No. 172), one of the main pillars of the Reform Project anchored by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and his government, led by HRH Premier, to promote democracy in the kingdom.
Regarding the economic theme, the government has taken a number of procedures in this regard, including compelling ministries and state department to set up an executive plan to implement the recommendation featuring the report of the Audit Court, establishing a General Directorate for Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security at the Interior Ministry, activating the role of the GOSI-supervised Asset Management Company and increased the salaries of civil and military employees in order to improve the citizens’ standards of living.

As far as the legal theme is concerned, the government has implemented visions related to women’s political and economic empowerment through facilitating their access to decision-making and leadership positions in all fields and ensuring equal opportunities for them, which is reflected in the establishment of 10 Equal Opportunities Units at ministries and state bodies, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Women.

The government also ensured gender equality in the kingdom’s trade and labour laws, and the Centre for the Development of Bahraini Women, which is under construction, is just a living proof.

The SCW, in its turn, has played a major role in boosting women economically through launched many women-oriented projects and conducting researches aiming to empower women economically.

On the social level, the government has finalized the cases of most workers dismissed as result of the regretful incidents that gripped the kingdom in 2011 and recruited those who volunteered during the same period, upon a cabinet resolution.

Regarding youths as real assets of the nation and a corner stone of its sustainable human development, the government has re-organised the General Organisation for Youth and Sport (GOYS), increased funds allocated to its youth-empowering plans and held numerous programmes and functions aiming to upgrade the skills of Bahraini youths, in cooperation with Tamkeen, GOYS, Bahrain Development Bank, Bahrain Polytechnic and training institutes.

Those procedures and measures reflect the keen interest of the government, led by HRH Premier, to implement the visions of the National Consensus Dialogue, out of its willingness to serve the homeland and meet the aspirations of the citizens.
