France paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for his initiative establishing the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) in July 2011.
French Foreign Ministry spokesman Philippe Lalliot welcomed Bahrain’s decision to implement the recommendations stated in the (BICI) Report. “We note with satisfaction the decision of the top Bahraini authorities to implement the recommendations which were submitted a year ago”, he said in a press conference. He described the move as an indispensable step to promote national reconciliation and pave the way for lasting calm in Bahrain. The Quai d’ Orsay also stressed the necessity for all parties to renounce violence.
