Alba’s Chief Executive, Tim Murray, Chairman of Alba’s Labour Union, Ali Bin Ali as well as members of the senior Executive Management, managers of various departments, union members and employees took part in the festivities that was held at the plant.
A sea of red and white – the colours of Bahrain’s flag – formed a key component of decorations in various departments across the plant. Traditional Bahraini sweets along with cakes and other delicacies were also shared as part of the celebrations.
“Alba’s success is the result of the foresight shown by Bahrain’s leadership in setting up the Middle East’s first aluminium smelter along with forward thinking economic and industrial policies that have burnished Bahrain’s credentials as one of the world’s freest economies. It is, thus, a mixture of pride and gratitude for us as we celebrate Bahrain’s National Day, and remains confident that these policies will continue to provide foundations for greater prosperity and productivity,” Alba’s Chief Executive, Tim Murray said.
Alba was established forty-years ago as the first industrial diversification initiative undertaken in the Gulf region. Currently, close to 50 per cent of Alba’s high-grade aluminium products are supplied to downstream companies in Bahrain. Aluminium constitutes Bahrain’s second major export after oil and the aluminium sector contributes substantially to the Kingdom’s GDP.
