Machinery worth over Dh18 billion brought into Dubai in 180 containers have been displayed at Arabplast 2013, the Middle East’s premier trade show for rubber, plastics and plastic processing, being held at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre. The value of machinery displayed this year is 20 percent higher than the 2011 edition.

On its third day (Wednesday, 9th January, 2013) the show was visited by Dirk Elbers, Lord Mayor, Dusseldorf. Elbers expressed satisfaction over German participation in the show and highlighted the importance of such exhibitions in increasing ties between German machinery manufactories and Arab petrochemicals and plastics companies.

Elbers was accompanied by Werner M. Dornscheidt, President and CEO of Messe Dusseldorf, one of the largest exhibition companies in the world and Satish Khanna, General Manager, Al Fajer Information and Services, Co-organiser of Arabplast.

Werner M. Dornscheidt hailed the growth of Arabplast and the wider presence of national pavilions from Europe as well as Arab countries. He described the event as one of the largest show of its kind in the world that has attracted the attention of key plastics and petrochemical companies.

“Machineries specialised in injection moulding, blow moulding, wrapping and packaging, pre and post plastic processing techniques as well as machines used in producing raw materials, such as master batches, additives and polymers are featured at Arabplast 2013. Purchasing managers and technical specialists from a wide range of plastics and petrochemical companies have been shopping around over the past three days for best machinery,” Khanna added.

“The machinery display area constituted 40 percent of the show’s gross area. Companies from Europe (Austria and Germany) and Asia (China, Japan and India) are vying with each other to sell machinery to pan Arab companies,” said Khanna.

“Arabplast is becoming a must-attend show for petrochemical companies and plastic manufactories with several companies launching their latest machinery at the show,” added Khanna.

The show covers a wide spectrum of plastic machinery, plastic/rubber processing technology, pre and post-processing systems, plastic packaging technology, injection moulding, blow moulding, wrapping technology, extrusions, chemicals and additives, semi finished goods, engineering plastics and plastic products.

Al Fajer Information and Services and German exhibition organiser Messe Dusseldorf are in a joint partnership to organise the Arabplast exhibitions.

Industrial machinery forms the bulk of investment of any plastics production company as well as petrochemical manufacturers, which has boosted Arabplast’s role as the premier show in the MENA region.
Khanna added that Arabplast has saved potential purchasers back and forth trips for buying equipment for their factories, which is cost intensive and time consuming.

Companies from Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Jordan, KSA, Korea, Lebanon, Malaysia, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Poland, Qatar, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Netherlands, Turkey, U.A.E, U.K, U.S.A and Vietnam are participating in the show.
