A string of attacks on seven public schools on Thursday interrupted the educational activities as thugs forced the staff and pupil to leave the buildings also acts of terror caused huge damage to the infrastructure.
Masked outlaws on Thursday broke into Al-Nuwaidrat Primary Boys School, Bouri Primary Boys School, Bouri Primary Girls School, Toubli Primary Boys School and Toubli Primary Girls School, threatened their administrative staff, obliged them to leave their schools and then closed the gates with locks and chains in order to prevent teachers and students from entering them.
The Ministry of Education also said that Arad Intermediate Girls School came under attack by thugs who threw a Molotov cocktail on the schools while students were there.
In another incident, four masked saboteurs beat a school guard severely in Sabaa Primary Girls School, tore his uniform and grabbed his cell phone while on duty.
Those incidents are in line with systematic attacks on educational establishments in order to prevent them from carrying out their educational mission and providing educational services for students.
The Education Ministry condemned in the strongest terms such illegal actions and described them as “blatant terrorist” attacks on the schools in order to terrorise children, spread panic among them and deprive them from enjoying their educational rights, in breach of religious precepts, international conventions and human rights, particularly regarding children’s physical and psychological safety.
The Ministry added that the attacks against schools’ teachers and administrative staff aimed to halt the educational process, stressing that those attempts were in vain as studying went on as usual in most schools.
The Ministry asserted that attacks were unprecedented criminal acts against educational establishments as thugs closed schools’ gates, deprived students from studying and forced them to leave.
