“We have been constant reviewing and evaluating the various aspects of the refinery modernisation project and it seems that the project will be ready to start by the year 2013,” Adel Almoayyed chairman Bapco Board of Directors, on the sidelines of MEOS 2013 said.
“We have been talking to engineering companies and consultants to discuss all aspects of refinery modernisation and hope the spade work will be ready this year,” he added.
The Chairman said that the board had reviewed plans and progress of Bapco Modernization Project, Upstream exploration programmes, Productivity Improvement Program and the current initiatives related to pilot project for use of Solar Energy being implemented under the auspices of National Oil Gas Authority”.
The Chairman said that the year 2013 will be better in terms of efficiency, productivity and sustainability as 2012 also yielded good results.
Adel, who was joined by his board member Abdul Majeed Al Ghassab, said that Bapco would continue to play a major role in the development of the human capital, a crucial aspect for a sustainable oil and gas sector in the Kingdom.
He said that they have been in discussions over the establishment of a specialised training institute under the umbrella of Bapco. “The project to have a specialised training institute for oil and gas sector with the help of Bapco and no decision is yet been made,” he said.
Majeed Al Ghassab said that Bapco’s current board has spearheaded a major project aimed at rebranding the Bapco as a national oil company. “The branding serves as a crucial and vital step for any company like Bahrain’s national oil company Bapco,” Al Ghassab said.
