The Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) is set to implement a new initiative on the solar energy. Dubbed as let Bahrain shine is a collaborative project among Petra Solar, Caspian Energy Holdings, the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), academia, industry, and government. The project demonstrates Bahrain’s commitment to solve the challenges of energy security, climate change, and economic development through global partnerships and collaboration.
The five megawatts of distributed smart solar is being installed throughout the Awali Community, the University of Bahrain (UoB) and other locations in Bahrain. Installations include rooftops, car ports, canopies, lighting poles, solar trees and ground mounted installations. The Kingdom of Bahrain is the first in the Arabian Gulf to implement a project of this kind, demonstrating a serious commitment to long term solutions.
