She credited the reform project led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for promoting democratic openness and expanding the freedom of expression.
This came as Bahrain joins the other nations in celebrating the World Intellectual Property Day, being held this year under the theme “Creativity- the Next Generation”.
In an address on this occasion, she said that Information Affairs Authority (IAA) is resolved more than ever to protect intellectual copyrights and, neighbouring rights and combat intellectual piracy.
She took pride in prolific Bahrainis’ writers and artists in the prosperous era of HM the King, adding that the constitution of the Kingdom of Bahrain stipulates the protection of the freedom of expression, publishing and scientific research as well as the national legislations on intellectual copyrights in line with the Bahrain 2030 Economic Vision.
The minister extended thanks to the IAA Publications and Publishing Directorate for its efforts to enforce the laws, promote media awareness on protecting intellectual copyrights through training courses and forums.
She stressed the importance of inspection campaigns aimed at cracking down on piracy, highlighting the positive impact of such efforts in reducing the rate of piracy and promoting imports of genuine copies.
