ASRY, the leading ship and rig repair yard in the Arabian Gulf has unveiled a commemorative book documenting the company’s impressive rise to the top of the regional marine industry, and a leader in Bahrain industry. The publication collects together exclusive historical imagery and documents that give a rare insight into the development of one of Bahrain’s pillars of economic activity.
“Using a combination of archive photography and in-depth commentary, this book illustrates the heritage and history of Asry since its inception in 1977,” in his forward of of the book, His Excellency the Chairman Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al-Khalifa, said.
It is the first publication to document the history of ASRY as a regional shipbuilding and Repair Company, and the first detailed account of the secrets that lead to ASRY’s dominance. An idea initiated by His Excellency Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al-Khalifa, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, the book is issued in both languages Arabic and English and is intended to be a reference for researchers in shipbuilding business in the region.
An in-depth research project was carried out to document intricate details of the firm’s history and saves for posterity the story of the firm’s success. The 125-page book is divided into four chapters, the first of which covers the period from 1968 to 1978, while the second chapter covers the operations from 1979 to 1987. The third chapter covers the period from 1988 to 1997 and the fourth chapter covers the years from 1998 to 2011.
