Shaikh Abdulla expressed delight at the launching of the project of the mosque, expressing hope that it will be ready in 24 months, as scheduled.
He extended sincere thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the government led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, for their constant support for religious projects, in general, and this one, in particular.
He paid tribute to the former Ruler of Bahrain, the Late HH Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and noted that he deserves to be remembered, thanking the Ruling Family Council for naming the project after him.
He affirmed that Bahrain is keen to promote religious values and precepts of the Islamic religion through supporting projects of mosques and houses of worship in order to consolidate the authentic Islamic identity of its people.
The Director-General of the Ruling Family Council Shaikh Ibrahim bin Khalid bin Mohammed Al Khalifa extended heartfelt thanks and gratitude to HM the King for his kind directives to build the mosque.
He highlighted the biography of the Late HH Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa who ruled the country from 1942 to 1962, noting that he laid the foundation for modern Bahrain’s renaissance march which, he said, was consolidated afterwards by the Late HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, may Allah rest his soul in eternal peace, and HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman whose fruitful contributions, landmark achievements and dedication in the service of the homeland still continue.
He also expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH Crown Prince for his incessant support and directives to take care of houses of worship.
He affirmed that such a “great Islamic monument will be among the major landmarks in the Southern Governorate,” adding that it will accommodate up to 4600 worshippers, and include a public library, Holy Quran memorization centres and reception halls.
It will also be equipped with modern technology, he also said.
