“The WWTP designed and implemented in way that it can work in harsh temperatures of 48 Celsius and high salinity levels, making it one of the rarest projects in the world,” Bapco’s Deputy Chief Executive for Refining and Marketing, and Chairman of Environment, Health and Safety EHS Committee, Ebrahim Talib, on the sidelines of the opening told The24X7News.
“This plant is also the first refinery-based facility in the world, thanks to the Bapco’s leadership support, vision and encouragement for commissioning such vital yet rare projects which serve as a backbone to the sustainability to the oil sector,” he added.
The plant which records 3.5million man-hour without a single lost time accident was opened by the Finance Minister and Minister in charge of Oil and Gas Affairs Shaikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa at the Bapco refinery.
The Korean consultant company representative told The24X7News that in addition to the water treatment, the project will also see the landscaping of 1.7 kilometer with the refinery.
