MANAMA: In its continuation to build as an exemplar regulator within the Arab region, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain has directed all operators to officially adopt GCC smart ID cards in all transactions in line with the law.
“The TRA is keen on cooperating with operators to make certain that they are capable of providing high-quality telecommunications services to GCC consumers as urgently as possible. This will be achieved through their electronic systems and programs tailored for meeting GCC citizens’ needs and requirements based on the principle of treating GCC citizens on an equal footing with Bahraini citizens and residents,” TRA’s Director of Consumer Affairs Sheikh Abdulla bin Humood Al Khalifa, said.
“The Authority has informed the operators of this decision, which shall be implemented by them from the date of publication, the Authority also held a workshop at its Headquarters to explain the consequences of the Law, stressing that the Authority believes in the importance of facilitating and simplifying the procedures for consumers, citizens and residents of Bahrain in relation to this aspect,” he added.
