Zero tolerance for terrorists, undermining security

January 20, 2015
0

MANAMA: His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has ordered immediate and stringent action against terrorists, those who fund them or incite them, as well as whoever seeks to undermine national security and stability, stressing that they are neither loyal to the nation, nor do they belong to it.

He assigned the Interior Minister to take the necessary measures, in accordance with the law.

This came as HRH Premier chaired at the Gudaibiya Palace On Monday the regular cabinet weekly meeting.

The Secretary-General of the Cabinet Dr. Yaser bin Essa Al-Nasser stated HRH Premier had directed the government team in charge of coordinating with the parliamentary committee on the Government Action Plan (GAP) to cooperate fully regarding MPs’ visions and remarks. He noted that the parliamentary recommendations will be taken into account, being within the framework of continuous executive-legislature cooperation regarding every issue related to the new phase of national action.

HRH Premier directed the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning to investigate into the new imported consignment of rotten frozen meat, determine those responsible for it and take the necessary measures if proved that there had been failure to commit to safety and health standards.

In this regard, HRH Premier commended the efforts of the official control bodies for detecting the shipment, calling upon all the competent sides to continue tightening control on imported meat.

HRH Premier also instructed the same ministry to renew the expired licences of fishermen, in line with his keen interest to support fishermen and maintain their livelihood.

HRH the Prime Minister tasked the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning and the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) with providing alternative sites for the electricity generators, water tanks and their warehouses in Arad to revamp road networks and set up recreational facilities for the citizens in areas adjacent to residential complexes there.

On housing, HRH Premier reviewed the current and planned projects, and was informed about the reasons behind the delay of the implementation of the Jannusan Housing Project.

Housing Minister said the delay was because of the archaeological excavations at the project site.

HRH Premier directed to finalise the archaeological excavations in the land lot allocated for the project quickly, or provide an alternative site as soon as possible.

During the session, the cabinet decided to approve the Ministerial Committee for Urbanisation and Infrastructure as the specialised competent body in charge of the stalling real estate development projects, as stipulated by Article 3 of Decree-Law 66/2014.

The Cabinet approved a draft ministerial edict determining fees payable on the registration of the contracts of various leasing categories.

Aiming to ensure the rights of landlords and tenants, the draft edict will be issued by the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments.

The cabinet also discussed a memo submitted by the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments on establishing an Institute for Holy Quran Readings to prepare Holy Quran teachers.

The memo, aiming to put forward an institutional framework for regulating and spreading the Holy Quran culture and developing the Holy Quran teaching and memorization techniques, was referred to the Ministerial Committee for Social Services, Telecommunications and Media for further review.

The Council of Ministers also endorsed the signing of an Air Services Agreement between Bahrain and Malaysia to replace the existing one which dates back to 1994.

It also gave the green light for signing eight memoranda of understanding and agreements between Bahrain and Cyprus in a number of fields. They include avoidance of double taxation, air service, maritime navigation, combating terrorism and organised crime, economic and technical cooperation, energy and health.

The cabinet also approved the Kingdom’s hosting of the regional conference to launch of the open-source policy, to be held in January and February, 2015, in cooperation with the Regional Centre for Information and Communication Technology (CICT).

The cabinet was informed about the approval of the Representatives and Shura Councils of Decree-Law 50/2010 on amending some provisions of Decree-Law No. 21/1989 on associations, social clubs and cultural institutions as well as on youth, Secretary-General of the Cabinet also said.
