Implement projects on fast-track: HRH Premier

February 10, 2015
0

Gudaibia Palace: His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has issued directives to prepare the executive plans to implement the projects on which the executive and the legislative branches had reached consensus.

HRH Prime Minister also spelled out an integrated follow-up mechanism to be devised by the executive to assess the implementation of the Government Action Plan closely.

This came as HRH Premier chaired at the Gudaibiya palace on Monday the regular weekly cabinet meeting.

The Secretary-General of the Cabinet Dr. Yaser bin Essa Al-Nasser stated the cabinet had affirmed that the Parliament’s endorsement of the Government Action Plan (GAP) and the executive-legislature consensus that had led to it reflects the two branches’ shared resolve to enhance constructive cooperation between them, and augurs a stronger bilateral collaboration in the coming period.

The Council of Ministers said that the “Popular Will Government”, whose action plan received the vote of confidence of the representatives of the Bahraini people, would embark on implementing its programmes, guided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s support and directives embedded in his letter designating HRH Premier to form the new cabinet and keynote address at the opening of the current legislative term.

The cabinet also lauded the patriotic spirit that had prevailed during the parliamentary committee’s discussion of GAP, its meetings with the government team and the consensus they had reached.

HRH Premier urged to take optimum advantage of the Kingdom’s distinctive features and outstanding competitive potentials to enhance industrial development through encouraging and providing incentives to the private sector institutions to develop their products and import them.

He also called for the need to boost specialised exhibitions, including the Gulf Industries Forum (GIF 2015), held recently under his patronage, as the best platforms to promote Bahrain’s industrial products locally and at the regional and global levels.

HRH Premier reviewed the operational plans prepared by some ministries to meet the needs of the villages of the Northern Governorate concerning housing, education, health and service facilities.

The plans aim to upgrade the quality of government services provided to the citizens of the villages of Bani Jamra, Deraz, Al-Markh, Sehla, A’ali, Salmabad, Al-Qedam, Bu Quwa and Jablat Habchi, as well as Hamad Town.

HRH Premier instructed the ministries of Education, Health, Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning and the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments to continue working on the plans ahead of their final approval.

Then, the cabinet discussed plans to prepare the draft state general budget for the two fiscal years 2015 and 2016, taking into consideration the global financial and economic challenges, including mainly the drop in oil prices, addressing public debt and the need to maintain the state’s financial status and consolidate its ability to adapt to all developments and fulfill its commitments, particularly the GAP implementation.
