MANAMA: With an 18% surge in tourist arrivals from the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2014, Malaysia is seeking more tourists from the Kingdom this year.

Malaysian delegation led by Dato Azizan Noordin, Deputy Director General, Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, showcased Malaysia as halal food and tourist destination at Bahrain Travel Mart 2015.

Malaysia which came back to Bahrain after five years still considers the Kingdom of Bahrain as one of the key markets due to its tourism potential and strategic location known as the gateway to the Gulf.

This year at Travel Mart, which held at the Four Seasons Hotel on Sunday, around 32 organizations and 60-member strong delegation was led by Dato Azizan Noordin.

“Bahrain continues to be a key market for us, that’s why after the ATM 2015 in Dubai we have come to Manama to promote Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015,” Dato Aziz Noordin on the sidelines of the Travel Mart 2015 in an exclusive interview told The24X7News Bahrain (www.twentyfoursevennews.com).

The new #MyFest2015 campaign also known as Malaysia’s Year of Festivals, aims at boosting the tourism sector and ensures that the Malaysian tourism industry remains robust.

“The new campaign seeks to showcase and celebrate “Endless Celebrations” which highlights Malaysia’s year-long calendar packed with festivities of every genre; including but not limited to cultural festivals, shopping extravaganzas, international acclaimed events, eco-tourism events, arts, music showcases, food promotions and other themed events.”

“Continuing the momentum and efforts of Visit Malaysia Year 2014, #MyFest2015 also seeks to maintain Malaysia as the top-of-the-mind tourist destination with a target of receiving 29.4 million tourist arrivals; the campaign will complement the Malaysia Tourism Transformation Plan where the country has set a target of 36 million tourist arrivals in the year 2020.”

“MyFest 2015 leverages on smart partnerships in line with the National Blue Ocean Strategy through integrated public-private partnership strategy that nurtures stakeholder engagement, support and participation. The symbiosis enables Malaysia’s tourism efforts to be competitive and to remain one of the prime contributors to the socio-economic development of the nation. As Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 is a national mission, it is envisaged that government agencies, the private sector, non-government agencies and industry players will come together and make the national campaign a success.”

Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board is an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia. While the Ministry of Tourism implements tourism policies, conducts studies and offers incentives for industry players, Tourism Malaysia focuses on the specific task of promoting Malaysia at the domestic and international level. Driven by its aspiration to promote Malaysia as a destination of excellence in this region, Tourism Malaysia has grown by leaps and bounds since its inception and has emerged as a major player in the nation’s socio-economic landscape. In 2012, Malaysia registered 25 million tourist arrivals and RM60.6 billion in tourist receipts.
