Electronic insurance policies for King Fahad Causeway

April 27, 2016
0

Manama: Coinciding with Labor Day, the weekend holidays and what the Kingdom of Bahrain is currently witnessing with the large traffic of travelers on the King Fahad Causeway; United Insurance Company (UIC) General Manager Mr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Ammadi described the efforts exerted – in collaboration with the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) – in reducing the long waiting time of insurance cabins as well as avoiding traffic jams by utilizing the ‘Issuance of Insurance Policies for King Fahad Causeway’ service which takes minutes to complete.

Al-Ammadi pointed-out that the movement of vehicles on the causeway is continuous throughout the year; where the causeway witnesses huge demand during weekends and public holidays, resulting in an increase of waiting periods for beneficiaries of the insurance service carried-out through the cabins.
“Hence, the eService comes as a successful alternative and is available round-the-clock as well as throughout the week so as to enable travelers heading to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to issue the insurance policy for their vehicles in advance and before passing the bridge. The insurance service, which only covers Saudi Arabia, also enables them to electronically pay the policy fees; which contributes in speeding the completion of the transaction and reducing the waiting period.

Al-Ammadi confirmed that providing such service comes within the framework of enhancing the partnership between both the public and private sectors. He also mentioned that the cooperation with the iGA is under the company’s direction which aims at offering its insurance services most conveniently by employing the latest technologies; while he indicated that since its launch, the service drew overwhelming response as it benefited more than 10,000 travelers.

Interested travelers can visit the portal, select the service entitled ‘Issuance of Insurance policies for King Fahad Causeway’ from the service menu, then click on ‘Start Service’. As for owners of Bahraini-licensed private cars, they are required to submit their personal details and information of their vehicles. In the case of companies, users are required to insert the CR number if the vehicle is owned by the company; a confirmation of insurance policy issuance will then be given by sending the insurance policy and its reference number via email along with an SMS to only Bahraini mobile numbers notifying the user of the process completion.
Established in 1986 as a Bahraini joint stock company with the capital of BD1 Million, UIC was formed mainly to provide insurance to all vehicles which travel through the King Fahad’s Causeway in accordance with the Bahrain Insurance Company Law and the Arab Treaty for vehicles crossing Arab countries.
