TAWSAEH is another milestone for Bahrain’s energy sector

Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Oil, with other officials during his visit to Banagas and the Bahrain Gas Plant Project

MANAMA: The Bahrain Gas Plant Project (TAWSAEH) is another significant milestone for Bahrain in the energy sector, thanks to the leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

“The project is among the several National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) and the Oil and Gas Holding Company (nogaholding) strategic projects aimed at securing continued economic growth in the Kingdom,” Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Oil, said during his visit to Banagas and the Bahrain Gas Plant Project.

The Minister was welcomed by Dr. Dafer bin Rashed Al Jalahma, Chairman of the Bahrain National Gas Expansion Company (TAWSAEH) and Acting Chief Executive of the Oil and Gas Holding Company (nogaholding), and a delegation which included Dr. Ahmed Ali Al Sharyyan, Secretary General of the National Oil and Gas Authority, Yousuf bin Ali Alawadhi, Chairman of Banagas, Board members, Dr. Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chief Executive of Banagas and senior Management of the Company.

During his visit, the Minister of Oil was taken on a site tour of the Bahrain Gas Plant accompanied by Board members. Dr. Dafer provided a detailed brief on the progress of the project which currently exceeded 55 percent of the total work.

“The Bahrain Gas Plant Project is on track and is progressing as scheduled. We are incredibly proud of this strategic landmark project which is in line with the Economic Vision 2030 and supported by the Leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain. This reflects their trust in nogaholding’s track record and their confidence in investing in Bahrain to further fuel growth of energy development projects in the country,” Dr. Dafer, said.

“I would like to thank H.E. the Minister of Oil, for his visit which further demonstrates his continued support and guidance. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to the members of the Boards of Banagas, the Expansion Company, the Secretary General of the National Oil & Gas Authority and Banagas management for their continued support”, he added.

It may be noted that Bahrain National Gas Expansion Company (TAWSAEH) and JGC Corporation had previously signed an agreement and partnered in January 2016 to build a third processing facility. Based on the success of the previous agreement, Bahrain National Gas Expansion Company (TAWSAEH) and JGC Gulf International partnered in October 2016 to build pipelines and expand the storage facilities at Sitra Wharf. The project is expected to be commissioned in Q4 2018.
