Bahrain hosts Huawei ICT Competition with 21 countries participating

Manama: Mahmood Rafique, Editor:  The Kingdom of Bahrain’s top ranking in the Human Development Index and excellence in ICT Innovation made the Kingdom a destination of choice to hosting Huawei ICT Competition 2023-24 Middle East and Central Asia.

Huawei ICT Competition 2023-24 Middle East and Central Asia kick started at Bahrain Polytechnic on Tuesday with all participating teams vying for the top slot through a vigorous testing system.

This year Huawei ICT Competition 2023-24 Middle East and Central Asia under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa targeting and offering young talents from Bahraini and the region an opportunity to explore the latest in ICT innovations.

The regional competition in Bahrain is a ladder to the global competition in China, where more than 20,000 students and five hundred universities participating.

“Bahrain ranked in the top two in the previous competition and we have signed up with seven universities as well as we have a framework with the Ministry of Labour and within five years we expect 3000 students to benefit from various initiatives,” Aziz Tang, CEO Huawei Bahrain in the sidelines of the opening told The24X7News Bahrain (www.twentyfoursevennews.com).

“This is a regional competition with a participation of 21 countries from the Middle East and Central Asia, and we have regional office for Huawei in Bahrain and proud to host this global event in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

“This kind of competition offers a platform to the students an excellent environment to polish their talent, secondly it encourages the students towards developing of ICT skills and innovation and feedback to the society,” he said, adding that Huawei as a company has been contributing its share as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) ICT, Innovation, and technology areas in the Kingdom.

As the global ICT leader, Huawei is committed to supporting Bahrain’s ICT sector ecosystem, including its key pillar, ICT talent. Since 2004, Huawei’s presence has grown from strength to strength, and extended to the region from Bahrain. We continue building robust partnerships with leading telecom companies and government entities and supporting national priorities, including local ICT talent development.

Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024, Middle East and Central Asia in Bahrain and Huawei ICT Competitions are open to worldwide Huawei ICT Academy students enrolled in higher educational institutions and showed interest in joining. Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024 Middle East and Central Asia remains the most influential ICT competition and talent exchange platform in Middle East and Central Asia region.

To promote the ICT talent ecosystem’s healthy development and support integration of industry and education, Huawei invited TIU ICT Academy to participate in the Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024 Middle East and Central Asia under three tracks which are Network track, Cloud track, and Computing track.

Huawei ICT Academy is a partnership between Huawei and Academies around the world, with Tishk International University as an official partner. Through this partnership, TIU can deliver Huawei ICT technologies training and encourage students to get Huawei certification and develop talents with practical skills for the ICT industry and the community.

The department of Computer Engineering highly encourages its students to participate in the annual Huawei ICT Competition 2023 Middle East and Central Asia by joining the competition via Tishk International University Academy.
