Freedom of Press has huge responsibility towards people and government by presenting a true picture of the affairs without any bias and hidden agenda.
This was the crux of the statement made by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on Tuesday who paid tribute to every Bahraini citizen who defended the nation and rallied behind its leadership.
“Standing against any attempt to undermine the Kingdom’s image out of patriotic motives epitomizes the loftiest meanings of true and responsible citizenship,” he said as he received at his court Akhbar Al Khaleej Board Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Anwar Abdulrahman as well as writer and Shura Council member Samira Rajab.
He praised all efforts made to confront misleading media and false information by debunking fallacies inside and outside Bahrain.
“The national media’s efforts to expose false and fabricated information are a great national work worthy of every respect and praise,” he said lauding the pioneering role of Bahraini press in serving the national work and preserving achievements.
He underlined the role of the press in shaping the public opinion commending the efforts of Akhbar Al Khaleej in this regard.
He also expressed utter confidence in the ability of the national press to promote the spirit of love, brotherhood and social unity in order to press ahead with development in Bahrain.
“The government relies on the press in assessing success of its citizen-oriented schemes. Therefore, we granted it freedom which has no borders but national and social responsibility,” HRH the Prime Minister affirmed.
